CHASE REVEALS PLANS FOR CURRENT RED BOOK

A thorough use of the Gothic style will characterize the 1934 Red Book in its drawings, manner of writing and printing, according to an announcement made yesterday by its chairman, Theodore Chase '34.

The 35 full-page drawings, and 20 sport caption pictures, a number greater than that of any previous year, have been executed in a medieval style by Theodore Rousseau '34, with the exception of a few sport-action drawings by N. W. Aldrich '34 and T. S. Offut '34.

To continue the Gothic motif, printed capitals will be in Priory type. A prologue and epilogue, written in the manner of Chaucer, have been planned by the literary board. Another feature will be a 300-line poem "The Rape of the Mop", by an anonymous contributor of the Class of 1934 which is done in Pope's style. The poem satirizes incidents in the lives of various freshmen this year in a humorous way.

In addition to the 950 pictures and brief biographies of the members of the class of 1934, there are to be several action photographs of class sports and activities. Well over 1000 photographs are included in the book, comprising views of the college, group pictures of teams and squads, snap-shots of incidents of the current year.

700 copies of the 332-page Red Book will be issued on May 27, the night before the Freshman Jubilee. Due to the rush of subscriptions, the Red Book board has decided to delay raising its cost from $5 to $6 until Sunday, May 10.
