Freshmen Exhibit Superior Tennis in Spite of Poor Weather

In spite of the rain, the Harvard Freshman-Milton tennis match was played today at Milton, the steady Freshman team defeating the school boys 7-2.

The summary:

Singles--S. E. Davenport (H) defeated Fay (M), 6-2, 6-3; G. H. Hartford (H) defeated Davis (M), 6-0, 6-0; Lawrence Freeburn (H) defeated Gilder (M), 6-2, 3-6, 6-1; W. S. Emmett (H) defeated Roberte (M), 6-4, 6-4; R. E. Metz (H) won from Palmer (M), 6-4, 4-6, 12-10.

Doubles--Davenport and W. K. Porter (H) defeated Fay and Ever (M), 7-5, 9-7; Freeburn and Hariford (H) won from Davis and Roberts (M), 6-1, 2-6, 6-3; Emmett and Mets (H) won from Gilder and Franklin (M), 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
