PENNSYLVANIA DOWNS HARVARD QUINTET 25 TO 24 IN LAST FIVE SECONDS

After having led the Quakers until the last five seconds of play, the Harvard basketball team was defeated 25 to 24 last Saturday night in a close game with Pennsylvania at the Palestra in Philadelphia before a gallery of 3500 fans.

Harvard's basketmen took the lead early in the first period and, largely through the accurate shooting of Captain T. E. Farrell '31 and William Holland '32, piled up a 12 point lead. The University quintet was ahead until almost the end of the second period, the score at the half standing Harvard 15, Penn 13. Early in the second period the Crimson scored six points, making the score 21 to 15.

The Red and Blue aggregation, whose confidence had been restored by Tanseer's long shots, staged a rally which tied the score late in the second period. Vahan Moushegian '32, who started at center played a fine defensive game holding the opposing center and left forward without score from the field. He was, however, ruled out in the second period after his fourth personal foul. He was replaced by Joseph Rauh, Jr. '32.

Five seconds before the final whistle with--the score standing at 24 points apiece Captain Peterson of Penn was awarded a shot from the foul line which he made good.

The Harvard team failed to break its out of town losing streak but it came closer to beating Penn than it has in the last quarter of a century.

At a formal dinner before the game Moushegian was presented with a gold basketball by his teammates in token of his notable work so far this season. The Summary:
