CRMSON AGAIN TO MEET HOLY CROSS

Harvard and Holy Cross will play the second of their two game series at Soldiers Field today at 3 o'clock. Holy Cross won the first game of the series May 31, at Fitton Field, Worcester, Hebert besting Devens in a pitching dual.

Hebert has beaten Harvard in two of the last three games the teams have played. He was the winning pitcher in the Worcester game a year ago when the Purple took the game 10-3, and will be given a chance to make it three out of four at Soldiers Field today, since he has been nominated by Jack Barry for hurling duty. Coach Mitchell means to match Devens against him again.

Harvard has not beaten Holy Cross since 1927. Then the Crimson nine played splendidly behind the fine pitching of Jack Barbee in both the Worcester and Cambridge games and won at Soldiers Field 9 to 2 and at Fitton Field 4 to 3. The latter game went 14 innings and always has been considered one of the finest college baseball games played in years.

The Holy Cross nine, almost annually the foremost candidate for the mythical eastern baseball championship, once again has come to the front this season with an outstanding team, and has lost but two games. It dropped one game to Columbia 6 to 5, in its second start of the year on April 22, and then won 13 games and tied one through to June 4, when it lost to Providence 6 to 5.

Holy Cross is bringing a squad of 17 players to Boston. The team will travel from Worcester by bus and will arrive at noon. In addition to the starting team, the following men will accompany the Holy Cross squad: Norman Sims, pitcher; Joseph Dougherty, catcher; Philip O'Connell, second baseman: Robert Friederichs, pitcher: Arthur Mahoney, pitcher: John Evers, pitcher: Frank Garrity, catcher and Frank White, outfields.

Coach Fred Mitchell of the Harvard nine has been indisposed for the last few days but is expected to direct the team from the bench today. Coach Janvrin, of the second University team, supervised the workout yesterday. Ticknor, who was absent from the Rhode Island lineup because of an examination, will be back in the game at left field. McGrath will play centerfield and Lupien, right field. The infield combination, as it played in the Rhode Island game will continue with Wood at first base. Captain Nugent on second base, Mays at shortstop, and Des Roches at third base.

Coach Fred. Mitchell of the Harvard University baseball team has taken up three players from the second University baseball squad which ended its season last week. They are Holand Dee Roches '52, outfielder, of Charlestown. N. H.; P. A. Ketchum '31, infielder, of Quincy, and L. R. Belknap '32, outfielder, of Beverly.
