New Haven, Conn., May 15.--Professor George H. Nettleton has resigned the chairmanship of the Yale Board of Athletic Control, it was learned tonight. At the same time it was announced that Seldon Rose of the Class of 1909 at Yale had been elected to fill the vacancy. It has been known for some time that Professor Nettleton had contemplated resignation, since he is to be absent from the university next year in order to lecture at several universities in France.
Director of Athletics W. J. Bingham 16, when informed of Professor Nettleton's resignation late last night, gave out the following statement to the CRIMSON. "I regret to learn that Professor George H. Nettleton has resigned as Chairman of the Yale Board of Athletic Control Frank in all his dealings, honest in all of his motives, cooperating with unselfish judgment, he has sought in every instance to arrive at decisions which were mutually acceptable to Yale and its opponents. His contributions to the close and cordial relationship between Yale and Harvard is deeply appreciated by all Harvard men."
