In the eighth and final match of its season the University fencing team meets the Boston University foilsmen at 7.30 o'clock tonight in the B. U. gymnasium. H. B. Wesselman '31; H. C. Cassidy '31, and J. D. Allen Jr. '31 will be the Crimson competitors, while Desmond, Lavine, and DeVitto will wield the foils for Boston University.
At New York University on Saturday the Boston swordsmen suffered a 7-2 defeat, while in an early season match the University team downed the Violet forces 10-7. Coach Peroy's charges have won from M. I. T. 14-3, Bowdoin 9-4, Pennsylvania 9-8, and Columbia 9-8, and have bowed to Army 8-9, and Yale 7-10.
Today's match will serve as practice for the Harvard fencers in preparation for their participation in the New England division of the Intercollegiate Fencing Championships to be held at the B. A. A. on Saturday.
In the championships the University swordsmen will contend with representatives from Yale, M. I. T., Dartmouth, Bowdoin, and Norwich. The first two teams to place will qualify for the finals of the fencing championships which are to be held in New York City on April 17, 18, and 19. As the Crimson fencers have finished seven matches with only two defeats by narrow margins it is expected that they will qualify for the finals.
