Seven members of the Harvard faculty, five of them members of the faculty of the Medical School, were raised to the rank of Assistant Professor, at the last meeting of the Board of Overseers, according to an announcement made at University Hall yesterday.
Samuel Hazzard Cross '12, Ph.D. '16, was made Assistant Professor of Slavic Languages and Literature, the appointment to date from September, 1930.
Arthur Colby Sprague '19, Ph.D. '25, becomes Assistant Professor of English. He has been an instructor in English and Tutor in the Division of Modern Languages since 1925.
Castle a Physiologist
In the Medica, School. William Bosworth Castle. M. D. '21. Instructor in Physiology since 1924, becomes Assistant Professor of Medicine. Charles Fremont McKhann. A.B. Miami University '18, M.D. University of Cincinnati in 1923, who was Assistant in Pediatrics from 1923 to 1927, and has been instructor in that field since 1927, becomes Assistant Professor of Pediatrics.
Frank Roberts Ober. M.D. Tufts '07, Instructor in Orthopedic Surgery since 1919, and Assistant Dean of the Medical School in charge of courses for graduates since 1928, becomes Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery. James Warren Sever. M.D. '01 Instructor in Orthopedic Surgery since 1916, is appointed Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery. Marius Nygaard Smith-Peterson. M.D. 14, Assistant and later Instructor in Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery since 1920, becomes Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery.
