Arrangements for a debate with the Fulton Debating Society of Boston College have just been completed, according to an announcement made yesterday by the Harvard Debating Council. The subject for debate will be, "Resolved: That the Massachusetts 'Baby Volstead Act' be repealed". The contest will take place in Symphony Hall on the evening of February 20.
Trials for men wishing to take part in this debate will be held after the midyear period. The present squad consists of eight men who debated with the Newark, New Jersey, Law School on November 18 during the first trip taken by the team.
Recently the Debating Council made an announcement that organization of the Freshman Debating team this year would be undertaken by the four men who were retained in the preliminary trials which were held last week. As yet no definite schedule for the Freshman debaters has been made but several communications requesting debates have been received from other institutions. A prize of $50 has been offered by the Coolidge Fund for the best speech in the trials for the annual Freshman triangular debate among Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.
