Thanking you, for your friendly attitude toward Sociology shown in your editorial of October 7, and leaving to myself the privilege of not sharing the opinion there expressed of the Department of Social Ethics. I should nevertheless like to ask you to correct an important inaccuracy in your editorial. I have been appointed not chairman of the Department of Social Ethics, of which I am not even a member, but Chairman of the Committee on Sociology and Social Ethics. This Committee is an entirely different body, composed of representatives of six important departments, of which the Department of Social Ethics is only one. Very truly yours,   P. Sorokin.

(Editor's Note: The CRIMSON regrets the confusion in terminology pointed out above, but maintains the thesis that Sociology as a subject has in the past been sadly neglected at Harvard. The lack of adequate study and handling of Soviet Russia is a case in point.)
