ANCIENT ROMAN COMEDY WILL BE REPRODUCED IN ORIGINAL

At a meeting held on Tuesday night, the Classical Club voted to produce a Roman comedy, in the original, during the winter of next year. It is likely that the play chosen for presentation will be "The Menaechmi" of Plautus.

The production next year will be under the direction of Mason Hammond '25, Instructor and Tutor in the Department of the Classics, who had an opportunity to observe similar plays while a Rhodes scholar at Oxford. E.K. Rand '94, Professor of Latin, who acted in the "Phormio" of Terence presented in 1893, will attend the rehearsals; and F.C. Packard Jr. '20. Assistant Professor of Public Speaking, will direct the acting. The production will be open to the entire University, and probably to the public as well.

Casting of the play will occur in the near future in order that the actors may have the summer in which to learn their parts. Rehearsals will start in September. Roles will be assigned by competition the date and place of which will be announced shortly.
