Rumors stating that Harvard is to have an entire new group of buildings at Red Top were confirmed yesterday by W. J. Bingham '16, Director of Athletics.
Robert F. Herrick '90, former crew man who has already made several gifts to benefit rowing facilities at Harvard, has been instrumental in collecting the money for erecting a new boathouse, living quarters, and dining room for the University and Freshman crews.
Architects plans for these buildings have already been drawn up, and will be released by the Harvard Athletic Association in a short time.
An offer to buy the land which has been the traditional headquarters for the Crimson crews for many years, was also made to University authorities, and accepted by them. In addition to this 14 acres of land, the lease for which runs out next year, the graduates have bought 11 more acres.
Letters have been sent to the majority of former Harvard crew men suggesting that they cooperate in making Red Top a permanent institution.
