CROSS COUNTRY SQUAD IS SMALLEST IN YEARS

Only Three Letter Men Form Nucleus of Harriers' Squad--Twenty Freshmen Report

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With three letter men as a neucleus for the 1929 team, the University harriers have been rapidly reaching their stride under the direction of Coach Jaakko Mikkola. Following the light workout yesterday Coach Mikkola made the following statement concerning the seasons prospects.

"As yet, there are too few men out to compose any kind of a team. Usually there are from 35 to 40 Freshmen candidates. This year there are but 20. The same thing holds true in the case of the University squad.

The schedule this year consists of meets with Holy Cross, New Hampshire, and Dartmouth on succeeding Saturdays.

There will be an Intercollegiate second team meet on October 2 allowing those unable to make the first seven to participate in active competititon. All cross-country candidates who have not taken part in meets with other colleges will be eligible for entrance.

On October 5, an inter-dormitory race will be run. All Freshman dormitory members, whether out for cross-country or not, will be eligible.
