In the second scrimmage of the season, Saturday morning, the University first and second teams ripped through the scrubs to score three touchdowns. Although a few long passes were tried in the practice, the majority of plays called for by the quarterbacks went through the line between the tackles.
G.L. Graves '31 and Captain A. E. French '29 were the outstanding ground gainers for the University team and each scored a touchdown. G. C. Holbrook '30 accounted for the third touchdown, while T.W. Gilligan '31 was the only one to negotiate successfully the try for point when his dropkick crossed the bar after Holbrook's score.
Among other developments which the scrimmage brought forth, was the changing of R. H. O'Connell '29 to center from his regular position at guard. O'Connell was given his first try at the pivot position in signal practice on Friday, and on Saturday he saw considerable service as center on team B in the scrimmage. Judging from his showing, it is not unreasonable to expect that he will be permanently transferred to his new post to help solve the center problem.
Joseph Lifrak '29, a player on the scrubs, was added to the growing list of injured, when he suffered a twisted ankle. Others on the injured list include J. H. Gildea '31, J. A. Prior '29, Guy Murchie '29, S. C. Burns '30, and David Guarnaccia '29. The latter pair will probable return to active service this afternoon, while the others are out of play for varying terms up to one week.
