Dean Edsall Stresses Records in Report to President

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A Smoker for first year students conducted by the Business School Students Club tomorrow night ushers in a year of activity across the Charles. Approximately 650 first year men are expected to attend the informal affair where they will hear President Lowell and Dean Donham in welcoming addresses. The president of the organization, J. H. Walker 20.B.H., will produce at the meeting.

The affair will be the first of a series of informal gatherings sponsored by the Business School Students Club for the coming year. Arrangements for lectures by men prominent in the business and industrial world are being made now under the direction of Charles Lockwood 2G.B.S. The entertainment committee, headed by John Gage 2G.B.S., is planning tea dances and other social activities which will take place in the club quarters this fall.

Will Elect Vice-President

The officers for the coming year in addition to the president include Bryce Barden 2G.B.S., treasurer, and O. B. Bromley 2G.B.S., secretary. A vice-president will probably be elected from the first year class sometime during the fall. The executive committee composed of the officers and chairmen of committees will hold a meeting within the next few weeks, but thereafter the committees will function independently.

Among the heads of committees are J. S. Octtinger 2G.B.S., publicity; Allin Dakin 2G.B.S., group discussion; Sherman Miller 2G.B.S, athletics; J. R. Tucker 2G.B.S, dining halls; Richard MacDonald 2G.B.S., and Clyde Barrows 2G.B.S., constructive criticism. This later committee acts as a liason group between the students and the officials of the School; fulfilling a unique function.

The group discussions committee is an unofficial and optional tutorial system. Small groups of first year men under the direction of an outstanding second year student meet to discuss problems dealing with the subjects being studied in class. These miniature forums have been a popular and useful innovation of the Business School Club.
