Preferential System of Balloting Is Used--Three Officers Will Appoint Committees

Samuel Lawrence Batchelder '31, of Boston, was elected president of the Freshman Class, it was announced last night by A.E. French '29, in charge of Freshman affairs. Phillips Finlay '31, of Redlands, Cal., was elected vice president, and the position of secretary went to Clarence Douglas Dillon '31 of Far Hills, N.J.

The class cast 597 votes for the three officers. Twenty votes were thrown out for improper marking. The election was conducted on the preferential system of balloting.

Batchelder, prepared at Milton. He was captain of the 1931 hockey team. Finlay, who went to Exeter, is a prominent golfer in amateur circles. Dillon, who graduated from Groton, was manager of the Freshman football team this year.

These three officers will appoint the various committees in charge of the class activities for the remainder of the college year, and the Editor-In-Chief of the Freshman Red Book. They are to meet French at 12 o'clock tomorrow in Strauss 22 to discuss problems of the class.
