AMHERST QUINTET INVADES CRIMSON TERRITORY TONIGHT

After a lay-off of almost two weeks the University basketball team will again be in action tonight, when it meets the quintet from Amherst College at 8.30 o'clock in Hemenway Gymnasium. Practically the same line-up which faced the Rhode Island State aggregation January 20, will oppose the Purple team tonight.

Van Miller and Navin form the chief offensive power for the Amherst players. Although they were beaten by Brown on January 14 by a score of 42 to 36, the Providence team had considerable trouble in keeping the two Purple players from gaining a lead in the score.

The Amherst recently defeated the strong Stevens College quintet in a game at New York by a score of 31 to 20, and proceeding this contest the Purple players downed Clark University by a score of 36 to 27.

The University hoopmen have been going through stiff drill and scrimmage practice in the past four days. The combination of H. T. Wenner '30 and A. W. Slocum '28 at the forward positions, and J. N. Barbee '28 and R. L. Hatch '28 at guard ought to make trouble for the Purple team, as evidenced by the scoring power that the Crimson men showed in some of the recent games.

The Crimson players' defeat at the hands of the Rhode Island hoopmen was somewhat of an upset in basketball for followers of both teams. A decided slump was shown in the Harvard players' spirit and speed which had carried them to victory in the three games previous.
