Opening its activities across the Charles for this year, the Business School Students' Club will hold its annual smoker and reception for first year men in the reading room of Baker Library at 8 o'clock this evening. President Lowell and W. B. Donham '98, dean of the Business School, will greet the new students and speak upon some aspects of the University and the School

Dewing on Balkan Situation

In the main speech on the program, A. S. Dewing '02, professor of Finance, will discuss the Balkan situation. Professor Dewing ha been traveling abroad and making a study of the Balkan question.

In place of the informal receptions to groups of first year men which were held t intervals until Christmas last year, the club plans this season to hold monthly parties or dances in the quarters of the club on Saturday evenings. As in former years, three major dances will probably be held during the course of the year. The club will also bring noted authorities on business and industrial matters to the School to address the students.

Officers of Club

J. N. Valianos 2GB is president of the club this year, with P. F. Rahn 2GB as secretary, H. J. Morgens 2GB as treasurer, and N. B. Oleksiw 2GB as editor of the year book.

Chairmen of the various committees as announced by Valianos yesterday are as follows: group discussion, W. W. Hacker 2GB; speakers, M. J. Fox 2GB and Warren Morgens 2GB; constructive criticism, R. F. Underwood 2GB; entertainment J. W. Rice, Jr. 2GB; athletics, G. J. Rufenacht 2GB; dining halls, F. J. Webber 2GB.
