TEAM B DOWNS SCRUBS 28 TO 6 IN SCRIMMAGE

No let-up in work was allowed the gridiron forces yesterday afternoon, team B and the scrubs engaging in another intensive scrimmage.

The final score of 28 to 6 in favor of the University players was largely the result of excellent running, passing, and kicking on the part of E. T. Putnam '30. He scored two touchdowns himself, heaved a pass to S. C. Burns '30 for a third and kicked all three extra points. But not content with doing most of his own team's scoring, Putnam also was responsible for the lone scrub touchdown when he muffed a punt near his own goal line. The ball rolled across where a scrub lineman fell on it.

The first University tally came early in the contest when Putnam caught a punt standing on his own 45-yard line and dodged and twisted his way through the entire scrub outfit. His drop kick was good.

The next score was the result of a single play which netted 60 yards. T. F. Mason '30 flipped a 25 yard forward to Putnam who ran the remaining 35 yards across the goal. Once again his kick was successful.

Putnam Passes 40 Yards

Next came Putnam's pretty 40 yard toss into the waiting arms of Burns who was standing in the end zone. These plays were a marked improvement in the matter of forward passes, and seem to indicate that the coaches are attempting to develop an effective aerial attack. Putnam's third attempt for extra point was perfect, making the score 21 to 0.

Following the single scrub touchdown which came shortly after this, team B scored its final points with T. W. Gilligan '31 featuring in a 75 yard march. On two runs around end Gilligan covered forty yards and then threw a pass to F. S. Grant '29 for 20 more. From this point he circled the left wing for the touchdown and kicked in the final point.

The injury list was augmented by the name of Mason who retired from the scrimmage with a broken finger. He will probably be available for duty against Pennsylvania. R. S. Warner '31 and R. S. Ogden '31 reported with injuries received in Monday's workout which will keep them idle for a week or so.
