POWERFUL ATTACK DOWNS CAROLINA

By concentrating its attack in the second period, the Crimson eleven a massed a total of 20 points to turn back the invasion of an overrated North Caroline team in Saturday's encounter in the Stadium. The contest was the second of the season, and as such revealed a development and a degree of power which gives indication of an epic battle when the veteran cadet eleven meets the Crimson next Saturday.

The heralded deception and Rockno like passes which the Tarheels were counting upon to bring them victory over the Crimson were not in evidence Saturday afternoon. Straight running plays and passes made up the visitor's attack and with but few exceptions it was stopped dead by the powerful charge of the heavier Crimson forwards.

Harvard Passes Well

The Crimson attack, on the other hand, was a different story. The end runs and off-tackle plays worked for from five to ten yards quite consistently, and it was only when the interferers missed their assignments, a thing to be expected occasionally at such an early date, that Sapp, and Schwartz, playing a stellar game for the Tarheels, broke through and nailed the play before it got underway. Particularly encouraging was the way in which the Harvard forward passing game was working.

The Crimson offense netted 16 first downs in all as against four for the invaders, figures which tell the story of the game themselves.

The Crimson scores were made by W. R. Harper '30 who crossed the broad stripe twice on short line bucks and French who slid over from the ten yard line for the last touchdown.

French made one of the extra points on a place kick and T. W. Gilligan '31, rounded out the score with a dropkick.
