Kirtley Fletcher Mather has been appointed professor of Geology, the appointment to take effect on September 1, it was announced today.
Professor Mather, present associate professor of Physiography, graduated from Denison University in 1909, receiving a Ph.D. degree from the University of Chicago in 1915.
He has held professorships at the University of Arkansas, Denison, Queen's University, Canada, and has been at Harvard since 1924. Professor Mather is an associate geologist of the United States Geological Survey. In 1919-20 he was Petrological Geologist to Bolivia and Argentina.
