The University basketball team, showing more speed and better teamwork than at any previous time this year, on Saturday defeated the Williams five at the Hemenway Gymnasium, 54 to 37.
Leekley was easily the outstanding player on the floor. The tall Crimson left forward scored seven baskets from the floor and added five from the penalty stripe, for a 19-point total, and the evening's scoring honors. Shumway, the highly advertised Williams forward, was pitted against Barbee, and against the Crimson guard's close guarding could produce only three baskets.
The summary: Score, Harvard 54, Williams 37, Field goals, Leekley 7, Dorn 5, Zinn 4, Barbee-3, Coombs 3, Sterling 3, Shumway 3, Malick 2, Wright 2, Betham 2, Green, Brown.
