A telegram from the Harvard Flying Club, offering assistance for flood relief, was flashed to Governor Alvan T. Fuller of Massachusetts on Saturday, and although no answer has been received as yet, the club's airplane is being held in readiness for immediate flight in case of need.
Following the dispatch of the message, which read, "Offer services of airplane and pilot for flood relief," Crocker Snow 2L., licensed pilot of the club, took a reconnoitering flight on Saturday afternoon over the flooded areas of Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, accompanied by E. W. Wood '29 and F. P. Sproul '29, who also hold State licenses as pilots.
The inundated regions were graphically described last night by Sproul, who declared that the flooded towns and river valleys were an inspiring sight.
"We flew west to Worcester, leaving the East Boston airport about 1.30 o'clock," he said. "The damage to houses and property was very evident from the air, especially along the railroad tracks up the Concord River valley, which we followed after leaving Worcester.
"There is a shortage of yeast in the Vermont and New Hampshire bakeries, and it is possible that we shall be called upon to carry a consignment of it tomorrow or Tuesday."
