1930 DEBATING CLUB MERGES WITH THE DEBATING UNION

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The 1930 Debating Club, founded last year as a Freshman organization, has decided to abandon its separate existence and combine with the Harvard Debating Union, according to J. F. Harding '30, president of the club.

By almost a unanimous vote, it was decided that the aims of the Debating Union in promoting informal speaking were identical with those of the Sophomore body.

The Debating Union will open a competition on Tuesday evening at 7.15 o'clock at the Union for all men in the University who are interested in debating. There are two offices to be filled, those of chairman and secretary, and a committee to be appointed for the arrangement of subjects and choosing of speakers for the fortnightly forensic meetings. These appointments will be made after Christmas by the Governing Board of the Union, after a competition in which each candidate will manage one of the debates.
