$150,000 GIFT TO ESTABLISH ASTRONOMY PROFESSORSHIP

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Mrs. Annie Downing Wilson of Cambridge has left $150,000 in trust as an endowment fund, the income of which will be used to maintain a professorship to be known at the Robert Wheeler Wilson professorship of applied astronomy.

The will, which was filed at the Middlesex Probate Court yesterday, goes on to state that any surplus income from the fund will be used for the upkeep of a laboratory.

If Harvard does not wish to start such a professorship, the money is to be used as a scholarship fund for Harvard students to study astronomy elsewhere, preferably at the Royal Geographical Society of England.
