Preservation of a portion of one of the most noted tracts of primeval forest in this part of the country was assured by Harvard's purchase of 20 acres on Pisgan Mountain, Winchester.

The land, located near the top of the Mountain, is famous due to the fact that it has never been cut over.

Many movements have been started from time to time to preserve the tract from the lumberman's ax.
