In the final match of the season on Saturday afternoon, the Harvard Squash Racquets, team defeated the Boston Athletic Association by a 3 to 2 score, thereby retaining the championship of the Massachusetts Squash Racquets Association for another year. This is the fourth successive year that the Crimson court men have been victorious in the Class A series. During this time, the University players have not lost a match. They were National Team Champions in 1925 and 1926.
Seconds Beat Weston
In the Class B series, the Harvard players scored a clean sweep when they defeated the Weston Club, gaining fourth place in the Inter-club championship race. The Freshman court men rank eighth in the Class C series by virtue of a 5 to o victory over the Newton Club.
The two Class A teams had broken even in two matches which were played of Friday. Captain H. N. Rawlins '27 started the Crimson on the road to victory by decisively defeating R. A. Powers, former Canadian champion, by a 4 to 1 count. Playing a very aggressive game, he completely outclassed the Unicorn leader. The feature match of the afternoon was fought out between P. M. Lenhart '27 and M. P. Baker '22, state champion, who scintillated for Harvard while an undergraduate.
Lenhart Drops First Game
After dropping the first game, 9-15, Lenhart overcome a 6-0 lead to win the second game by 15-12 count. Baker came back with rush in the third game, winning 15-7. In the fourth period. Lanhart exhibited his full power, rushing Baker around the court, and passing him with dazzling placements. With the score at 8 all, Baker rallied and tallied six points. Lenhart steadied down and took the next two points. With only a point needed for game, Baker faltered and was forced to give way before Lenhart's rush. The Crimson player won the game, 17-16, tying the score at 2-all. The Massachusetts champion soon found his stride in the fifth and deciding game. Placing his soots with masterful precision, he took the lead from the start to win the game, 15-8, and the match, three-games to two.
