GREEN FAVORED TO WIN FOURTH IN SUCCESSION

Captain Horton Out; Black, However, Is Rated Green's Best Carrier

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Confidence reigned among Dartmouth followers last night. The big Green eleven, still smarting from its defeat by Yale, was not burdened by over-confidence, but was filled with a fighting spirit that boded ill for the Crimson.

Coach Hawley's statement, "It will be a tough game," is hailed as an expression of optimism. Before the Yale encounter, the Hanover mentor said Dartmouth would probably lose. Dartmouth lost. He makes no such gloomy prediction today. Dartmouth expects a tough game, but Dartmouth expects a victory, too.

Black Replaces Horton

The Big Green will start its strongest team against Harvard. The injury to Horton, veteran fullback, deprives Dartmouth of its captain, but Black, the sophomore back who will start, is rated as the best ball carrier the visitors have. The appointment of MacPhail as acting captain instead of the ex-captain-elect, Dooley, causes much speculation. As Black is Dartmouth's other punter it is thought that his substitution and McPhail's appointment may mean that Dooley, star kicker and passer, will be relegated to the sidelines. In this eventuality either Harris or MacPhail will call the signals, with McAvoy, rated as "brilliant" by Harvard scouts, going in at halfback.

MacPhail Most Consistent

The return of Holleran and Fusonie to the forward barrier gives the fast Green backs an effective frontier. McPhail has been the most consistent Dartmouth back this season: Lane, who starred last year, has not got going.

Dartmouth had a distinctly off day last Saturday at New Haven, but should be back in form this afternoon ready to wrest its fourth successive victory over the Crimson.
