Bob Lampoon was grilled in Arthur's restaurant yesterday. The veteran flunkey of the Lampoon building was raked over the coals by Cambridge sleuths and cleared of all changes following an unauthorized smoker held early yesterday morning in Arthur's Smoke Shop, which resulted in the theft of accessories necessary to the worship of Lady Nicotine.
"A spiteful robbery and act of vandalism" declared Arthur J. Clement, proprietor of the shop when questioned yesterday, or perhaps it wasn't. Maybe the supplies just ran low at some party and the boys dropped over for a little provender. They took five Dunhill pipes, a mecrschaum, a siphon, and a Dunhill lady lighter, or rather a lighter made by Dunhill for ladies. Much as I would like to believe in the latter as an explanation, I must confess to a fear that this is but another spiteful attack by some sinister and hidden enemy."
Last year, on the night before the Yale game. While Arthur was safely in bed and dreaming of the countless number of coffees, seagoings, and toast-the-what-have-you that he was going to provide, at a small cost, to the hungry pack on the following day malevolent visitors entered his shop and attempted to wreck the Arthur food process by melting his percolators. The robbery of yesterday morning shows the hand of the old masters, although this time they picked a mere Fish Day Eve to work their wrath.
The door leading from the street was opened, Arthur believes, with a key, although the revellers tried to make it look like a professional job, by digging at the door-frame with jimmy. A pane of glass in the smoke shop was smashed and the door opened from the inside, with the aid of a little jimmying from the outside. Police are looking for the jimmy and its owner.
