FINAL DEBATE TRIALS WILL BE HELD TONIGHT

The final trials to determine who will be the three debaters to oppose Cambridge on Thursday, October 28, will be held tonight at 7 o'clock in the New Lecture Hall. Those retained so far are: J. F. Barnes '27, D. W. Chapman '27, F. W. Lorenzen '28, A. F. Reel '28, E. M. Rowe '27, and C. E. Wyzanski '27.

Philip Walker 1L, former president of the Debating Union, will assist Coach Paul Williams '16 in choosing the University's representatives. As soon as the team is chosen, the men will begin to prepare their arguments supporting the question, "Resolved, That this house opposes the growing tendency of government to invade individual rights." While an undergraduate, Coach Williams and his assistant were both prominent debaters, and last year they were in England, where Coach Williams was a member of the Cambridge University Debating Union.

Mayor Malcolm E. Nichols '99, will probably preside at the debate, which will be held in Symphony Hall on Thursday night, October 28 The debate will be conducted in the English manner, whereby the decision is rendered by a vote of the audience, rather than by selected judges. Edward F. Gray, British Consul General, and Dean C. N. Greenough '98 will act as tellers.

Ticket Sale Opens

Tickets, the prices of which are $1.00, $1.50, and $2.00, are now on sale at Symphony Hall, and within a few days may be obtained from the Harvard Cooperative Society or Leavitt and Peirce's.

The Cambridge delegation will encounter representatives of Columbia and Bates prior to its arrival in Boston, and will argue with the Holy Cross debating team on Friday night, October 29. They then expect to halt in their journey for a week-end at Northampton, where they will attempt to have the last word in a debate with the Smith speakers.

The Englishmen will arrive here the morning of the day on which the debate is to be held, and will be met by the University team. Plans are now being formulated for entertaining them throughout the day.

They will probably be shown through the various buildings in the Yard, and taken to points of historic note in the vicinity. The men will spend the night at the Hotel Somerset.

The Harvard Club of Boston expects to give a reception in honor of the visitors immediately after the debate. To this all the prominent persons in any way connected with the debate will be invited.
