The subject for the annual Pasteur Debate has been stated, "Resolved, that a levy on capital as a solution of France's financial difficulties is undesirable," it was announced yesterday by Assistant Professor L. J. A. Mercior of the French department. The preliminary trials will be held in Sever 36 at 7 o'clock, February 18, and the final speeches will come March 4.
The question has been especially worded in order that the present action, of the French Chamber will not materially effect the problems involved in the coming debate. The speeches will be made in English and the competition is open to all undergraduates who may chose either side of the question to argue. The time allowed each debater in the trials will be limited to ten minutes. The judges will be chosen within the next two weeks by the members of the French Department. Last year the debate was won by George Slaff '26.
