HAINES SELECTS 14 EIGHTS AS 1928 OARSMEN TAKE WATER

To Watch Individual Development for Two Weeks Before Ranking Men

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

After four days of grading and machine work the 1928 oarsmen got on the water yesterday to legin spring practice in earres.

Coach Haines has divided his men into 14 eights which, for the present, will row together daily. Although the Leviathan was the only boat sent out in yesterday's wind, the Freshmen will row regularly in barges and, should the weather permit, in shells.

On account of the exceptionally early start, Coach Haines has not made a definite appraisal of his publics. The combinations which he has selected contain men, mingled indiscriminately, from the A, B, and C lists. The purpose of this is to observer more closely each man's work and give the new men an opportunity to row with the more experienced ones.

The present seating will be continued for about two weeks, when a first squad will be definitely selected. The 150-pound and Dormitory combinations will also be made up at that time.
