Four Harvard men came off the mat victorious last night in the New England Intercollegiate wrestling preliminaries, held in Hemenway Gymnasium. The final matches, taking place here tonight at 7.30 o'clock, will thus have six entries out of a possible seven from Harvard, as two Crimson men drew byes.
Last night's contest was featured by many hard-fought matches, and a new record was set here when six of the seven first team bouts drew out into overtime periods.
Brown and M. I. T., the other two teams contesting for the New England title, have not so good a record to show, but have strong possibilities in the finals.
The summary of the first team matches is as follows:
115-Pound Class--Coyle (MIT) won from Prosser (B) with a fall in 5m. 55s.; Krook (H) bye.
125-Pound Class--Brightman (B) won from Kurtin (MIT) with an overtime decision; Goldberg (H) bye.
135-Pound Class--Stearns (H) won from Hosch with an overtime decision; Kolodzyczyh (B) bye.
145-Pound Class--Sulzberger (B) won from Harmon (H) with an overtime decision; Cohon (MIT) bye.
158-Pound Class--Wood (H) won from Greer (MIT) with an overtime decision; Freedman (B) bye.
175-Pound Class--Bradford (H) won from Tryon (MIT) with an overtime decision; Eckstein (B) bye.
Heavyweight Class--Locke (H) won from McCrillis (B) on an overtime decision; Burke (MIT) bye.
