The medical examinations for members of the class of 1925 taking out endowment insurance policies will be held at the Senior class smoker on Monday, March 16. These examinations will be merely nominal, according to a statement issued yesterday by B. F. Rice Bassett '25, speaking for the Senior class executive committee.
"No one need fear," continued the statement, "that by signing up for a policy he will be forcing on himself the obligation of undergoing a strict medical examination. There will be no time to speak of spent in this way. The Aetna company, which is handling the insurance for us, has agreed to accept all members of the class as physically fit as far as the matter of issuing endowment insurance for the class fund is concerned. They feel that they can do this because of the special facilities Harvard offers of keeping physically fit and because of the system of physical examinations that the University now has in operation.
"The plan we have adopted is practically free from all the red tape that usually accompanies life insurance. There will be no complicated application blanks to be filled out, there will be no questionnaire to be answered. The entire process will consist of merely signing a blank on which has been written each man's age and address.
"Some idea of the rapidity and the simplicity with which the system of medical examinations and of signing up for the policies has been arranged may be gained from glancing at some of the statistics from M. I. T. last year. At the first meeting, 367 applications were signed in 20 minutes, and 200 men were examined in an hour.
