UNION WILL TAKE 185 ADDITIONAL MEMBERS

The Governing Board of the Union has decided to allow 185 more members of the University to become active members of the Union, it was announced yesterday.

Five Dollar Fee for Rest of Year

Any member of the University who wishes to take advantage of this opportunity must do so before February 19. In case of over application, the applications will be filled in the order in which they are made. They may be handed in at the news stand in the Union or at the Bursar's office. The membership fee for the remainder of the year will be five dollars.

Seek to Serve Memorial Diners'

The Governing Board has taken this action in order to take care of some of those men who formerly ate regularly at Memorial Hall, which was closed on January 10 for lack of patronage. The Governing Board felt that it could make the Union of greater service to the University in this way.

The Board has also requested that applicants indicate the number of meals which they expect to eat each week in the Union restaurant, in order that the management may know whether it will be necessary to open a dining room on the second floor to meet the demand.

This year, for the first time, a limit of 2,000 was put on the membership of the Union after the unexpectedly high mark of 1936 was reached last year. As a result of this limit a good many men were turned away from the club. The limit was placed primarily because of the limited facilities afforded by the Union Dining Room.
