With about 45 men reporting daily, Coach J. L. Danguy stated yesterday that the prospects for a successful Freshman fencing team were exceptionally good. At 2.30 o'clock this afternoon Mr. Danguy will hold in the Salle d'Armes in Hemenway Gymnasium a competition for all Freshmen who desire to try out for the team. About twelve men will probably be selected this afternoon and they will be formed into three preliminary teams for foils, epees, and sabres. The 1929 man who shows the best form will be awarded a foil this afternoon.
It is imperative that all men hoping to make the team this year report at 2:30. Coach Danguy will hold another competition in the last week of January to replace men on his teams who may have been put on probation. Men reporting this afternoon need have no previous experience, but those who take part in the late January competition will be expected to have had some previous training.
