YALE USES CONSERVATIVE TACTICS

New Haven, Conn., October 7, 1925.--In a hotly contested scrimmage, in which the scrubs yielded ground grudgingly, the Yale University football team, showing mid-season power, scored two touchdowns in 30 minutes.

This performance of the Blue team is all the more remarkable in that the Seconds were given the ball for about half of that time.

While on the defensive, the University team proved impregnable, the line from end to end repulsing the scrub carriers with machine-like regularity. Only once and then via the air route, were the least able to advance the ball for any appreciable distance.

Elis Use Conservative Plays

Old-fashioned football was the order of the day while the University team was in possession of the ball, Bunnell through the line, and using Cutler only occasionally for sweeps around the ends.

The first score came at the end of a steady advance down the field, Allen taking the ball over after the scrub line had held for three downs on the one yard mark. Cutler's 15-yard gain was the outstanding play of the advance from mid-field. Allen scored the extra point.

Shortly afterwards, following a short gain by Bunnell, and smashes at the line by Klein and Allen, Cutler took the ball over for the second tally.

At the start of the scrimmage, Yale lined up as follows: Potts and Bradley, ends; Butterworth and Richards, tackles; Flaherty and Root, guards. Sturhahn, center; Bunnell, quarterback; Allen, Klein, and Cutler, backs.
