Coach Mitchell, temporarily in charge of the University baseball team and formerly manager of the Boston Braves, yesterday picked the Pittsburgh Pirates to win the World's Series.
"Pittsburgh has the better hitting, and they are just as good defensively. The star twirlers of the Washington club won't be so effective against the attack of the Pirates because the Pittsburgh team has only one left-hand hitter in its batting order, and the Senators' good pitchers are right-handers."
Coach Davidson of the Freshman team also favored the Smoky City team: "They can hit, and have plenty of speed, and that combination is hard to beat."
