SCULPTOR BREAKS RECORDS MODELLING JOHN HARVARD

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The replica of the statue of John Harvard, which has just been placed in a niche above the doorway of the new dormitory on the corner of Langdon Street and Massachusetts Avonue broke all the speed records for production.

It was reproduced almost overnight by Emilio Frederico Disario, a young Boston sculptor, in his little studio at the Dorchester Cement Store Company. Disario made one trip to the Yard to view the statue of John Harvard, from which the replica was made, and then spent a few hours at the studio modelling the plaster positive. According to most critics, however, in spite of the haste in which Disario finished his work, the replica is remarkable not only for likeness to the original, but also for the "character" which the sculptor modelled into the face.
