FRESHMAN BASKETBALL FIVE FACES CONNECTICUT SCHOOL

The 1928 Basketball quintet journeys to Wallingford, Conn. today to play Choate School in the second game of the Freshman season.

The first-year men have improved rapidly this week, especially in teamwork and shooting. They have played two practice games, one with the University, which they lost, and one with the Second year Law quintet, which they easily defeated 51 to 22. In the latter game they completely out-classed a team which had given them a stiff struggle early in the season. McCurdy at center, showed up particularly well, and may start against Choate this afternoon, instead of Green.

Coach Drohan emphasized yesterday afternoon the rapid progress which the substitutes have made during the last few days. Pusey and Cozzens, the reserve forwards who have not had much opportunity so far to demonstrate their ability because of the remarkable work of Slocum and Baldwin, may have a chance to play today. The nine freshmen who will make the trip are Baldwin, Barbee, Slocum, Cozzens, Green, McCurdy, Meisenbach, Oothour and Pusey.

The team which Coach Drohan will start against Choate will consist of Slocum and Baldwin, forwards, Green or McCurdy, center and Barbee and Meisenbach, guards. Cheate is an unknown quantity this year, but in the past has provided sturdy opposition to the Freshman quintet.
