REPUBLIC CLUB PLANS NOMINATING CONVENTION

A Mock Convention, Similar to Yale Organization, Will be Held in Hope of Influencing National Convention

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Some time in May the Republican Club hopes to hold a mock nominating convention to nominate the next presidential candidate. The only opposition to the Republican Club's unanimous choice of President Coolidge is Hiram Johnson, who is staunchly upheld by the Hiram Johnson Club. The plan can materialize only if enough of the later's supporters join the Republican Club.

A similar movement is being started at New Haven by, "The Yale "News". Last night they held a large political rally at which parties were organized and plans explained for the coming conventions. Individual clubs will be formed to support the various candidates. The object of each of these clubs will be to procure as many supporters for its candidate as possible so as to insure his nomination at the convention.

The conventions both here and at New Haven will be conducted precisely as a National Nominating Convention.
