The new basketball rules to be enforced this year will be officially explained and illustrated at a special game to be held in Hemenway Gymnasium on Friday night. Two teams from the University squad will play an informal game which will be interrupted by the coaches to explain different points. Coach Wachter and Mr. Oswald Tower, a prominent official, will probably make short explanatory speeches. After the game is over, the floor will be opened to a general symposium at which questions about the rules will be discussed by New England referees and coaches who are expected to be present.
Having cut his squad of well over half a hundred to the more workable size of 40, Coach Wachter has been sending his charges through a stiff daily drill in the fundamentals of the game. Handling the ball, passing and basket shooting are expected to form the bulk of the practice for some time to come.
