DARTMOUTH HEAD TO BE UNION SPEAKER

President E. M. Hopkins of Dartmouth will speak at the Union Thursday night on the subject of "The Relation of a Man's College Education to His Life Work", under the auspices of the Committee on the Choice of Vocations. President Hopkins was scheduled to speak at the University last year but was unable to come on account of a European trip.

President Hopkins was educated at Worcester Academy and Dartmouth. He acted as secretary to the president of Dartmouth for several years and then became the secretary of the college. From 1910 to 1916 he engaged in organization work for various firms in Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia. In 1916 he became the president of Dartmouth.

His lecture is the first one at the college this year to be arranged by the Committee on the Choice of Vocations, which reported recently on its work for the past year and its plans for the coming season.

Twelve graduates and five undergraduates have been appointed to the Committee it has just been announced. The active work of this Committee, which aims to help men graduating from college choose a suitable career, is now under way. The first meeting was held last week. The committee is headed by Dean C. N. Greenough '98, Chairman, and Assistant Dean Delmar Leighton '19. Secretary. The other graduates are: Professor J. M. Brewer G. '16, Professor G. H. Chase

'96, W. L. W. Field '98, J. W. Hallowell '01, L. S. Mayo '10, Professor R. B. Perry G. '99, Professor P. J. Sachs '00, J. W. D. Seymour '17, A. M. White '92, and A. D. Wilt Jr. '03. The undergraduates are: G. P. Baker '25, B. F. Rice Bassett '25, Gardner Cowles '25, H. T. Dunker '25, and E. G. Lowry '25.

Send Out Questionnaires

On Saturday afternoon Dean Greenough sent a letter, accompanied by a questionnaire, to every member of the Junior and Senior classes. He asked that the questionnaires be filled out and returned to Assistant Dean Leighton, the secretary of the committee, by Wednesday night, December 3. The latter will hold office hours between 2 and 4 o'clock this afternoon and Wednesday in University 3 for the purpose of conferring personally with all men who are interested in the work of the committee and desire its aid.

Of the new graduate members Professor Brewer is Director of the Bureau of Professional Guidance of the Graduate School of Education. Professor Chase is Professor and Curator of Classical Antiquities. Mr. Field is headmaster of Milton Academy. J. W. Hallowell is a former member of the Board of Overseers and of the firm of Stone and Webster. L. S. Mayo is an Assistant Dean of the College. Professor Perry is Professor of Philosophy. Professor Sachs is Assistant Director of the Fogg Art Museum and Associate Professor of Fine Arts. J. W. D. Seymour is Secretary to the University for Information and Secretary of the Alumni Association. A. M. White was one of the original organizers of the Committee and helped to support it during its first year. A. D. Wilt Jr. is Chairman of the Appointments Committee of the Associated Harvard Clubs
