Both the individual and the meet honors went to the University yesterday afternoon when the University cross-country team snowed M. I. T. under, 20-37, just after the Freshman harriers had defeated the Tech first-year men, 24-38. Cutcheon and O'Nell took first in the University and Freshman events respectively.
Cutcheon did to Bemis yesterday what the latter did to Larrivee of Holy Cross last week. After trailing Bemis by about two yards throughout most of the distance, Cutcheon in the last 50 yards drew beside Bemis and finished the sprint a pace in the lead. He was only two-fifths of a second ahead. Cutcheon's time was 27 minutes and 43 seconds.
Crimson Team Finishes in Group
Swede, who has been steadily improving, placed third. Tibbetts and Harrison, both running easily, next reached the tape at fourth and fifth, while Captain Chapin completed Crimson scoring by taking seventh. Hooper of Tech preceded him. The Reavers' other two scoring men secured tenth and eleventh places.
O'Nell had no difficulty in reaching the finish before Chute of Tech in the Freshman race. The Crimson Freshman finished five seconds ahead of Chute without extending himself to the limit.
The summary of the University meet follows: Cutcheon (H), Bemis (T), Swede (H), Tibbetts (H), Harrison (H), Hooper (T), Captain Chapin (H), Perkinson (T), Ryan (H), Rooney (T), Davidson (T).
