The Harvard Union tennis tournament will begin as soon as the University matches are completed next week, it was announced yesterday.
Following the custom of former years the tournament will be open only to members. A blue book has been placed on the Union bulletin board, and all men who, wish to enter must sign up immediately.
It also became known that the men who show up well in this tournament will be considered for the University squad which will play at the Longwood Covered Courts this winter.
There will be three silver cups given as prizes, one to both winners of the doubles, and one to the winner of the singles.
The Union tournaments usually draw some of the best players in the University. The singles matches last year was won by J. F. W. Whitbeck '27, and the doubles by W. P. Dixon '25 and Donald Stralem '24. Whitbeck defeated E. M. Upjohn '25 in straight sets.
