SOCIALISTS GATHER AT LIBERAL CLUB TODAY

CARROLL AND THOMAS TO ARGUE SOCIAL DEMOCRACY

A debate on Socialism between Mr. Norman Thomas, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the League for Industrial Democracy and Professor J. Murray Carroll of Bates College will feature the session of the New England Student Conference today. The debate will be held at the Liberal Club tonight at 8 o'clock, and all members of the University are welcome.

At the meeting this afternoon the subject of "Labor in Politics" will be discussed by the delegates in a symposium led by Mr. George E. Roewer Jr., a Boston labor attorney. The meeting is at 2 o'clock.

The conference will close tomorrow with morning and afternoon services. At 9 o'clock, the representatives from each participating college will report on "Social Thinking in our Colleges". In addition there will be a report by Paul Blanshard, Field Secretary of the League for Industrial Democracy, under whose auspices the conference is being conducted. In the afternoon at 3 o'clock, Roland A. Gibson of Dartmouth will lead a student discussion on "What is Industrial Democracy?"

All the meetings are at the Liberal Club, 66 Winthrop Street, and are open to the University.
