About $4100 had been received late last night for the Student Friendship Fund, when the final day of the drive closed. With the $1000 expected from the graduate schools, where the drive does not end until January 20, this amount assures the filling of the University's quota of $5000.
F. T. Baldwin '24, chairman of the drive, stated last night that the clean-up campaign which will be conducted next week among students who have not as yet been canvassed is expected to bring a substantial over-subscription to the Fund. Members of the committee will be at the Crimson building from 12 until 1 o'clock today to receive subscriptions and belated reports from collectors.
Approximately 70 percent of the undergraduates have responded to the appeal of higher education in Europe, giving an average of more than two dollars a man. In the Freshman class subscriptions have been much the heaviest, the total of the contributions being almost $1500.
