HUBBARD SLASHES WRIST BUT EXPECTS TO RACE

Red top, Conn., June 12.--While adjusting the keel on a small model of a boat with which he was experimenting Hubbard's hand slipped so that the under side of his right wrist was cut by the sharp edge of the tin. He was taken immediately to the Naval Base Hospital, where several stitches were taken.

The cut was only on the surface, however, so that the surgeon who handled the case feels confident that Hubbard will be able to take part in the race against Yale. For the next few days, however, he will be obliged to give his hand a rest.

Under the new arrangement Kelley has taken Hubbard's place at five, while Hobson has been promoted from the Junior eight to row at bow. To fill the vacancy in the second boat Cummings has been moved up from the combination.

At present the empty seat in the combination is filled by C. L. Dame '26, one of the waiters, who made the trip to the Housatonic as a substitute on the Freshman 150-pound crew.

Fuller May Fill Vacancy

Although no one else has been definitely named to take Cummings' place in the combination, it is expected that H. H. Fuller '23 will land the position. When the news of Hubbard's accident reached Cambridge, officials were not able to reach Fuller, but learned that on Sunday he had left for Red Top in his yawl. Since he had a favoring northwest wind today, he will probably arrive tomorrow, and will begin work immediately.

The boating of the crews is now as follows:

Crew A.--Bow, Hobson; 2, Mathews; 3, Bollister; 4, Webb; 5, Kelley; 6, Ladd; 7, Henry; stroke, Mumford; coxswain, Badger.

Crew B.--Bow, Rice--Bassett; 2, Cummings; 3, Bradford; 4, Jameson; 5, Johnson; 6, Morgan; 7, Fiske; stroke, Brown; coxswain, Burnham.

Yesterday morning all four crews took a seven mile paddle, and in the afternoon the first and second eights rowed down to the railroad bridge and back for a total of eight miles. On the return trip Coach Muller coxed crew A.

Mr. John Richardson '08, chairman of the Rowing Committee, arrived here this morning. During the afternoon the yacht Roxana, belonging to Mr. Larry Anderson '88, anchored here, bringing Mr. A. E. Porter '00, and Mr. F. T. Bradley '15.
