President Eliot will receive the great Gold Medal from the Civic Forum Monday night at the Town Hall of New York City. President Eliot will be the fifth American to receive the medal, the others being Alexander G. Bell, Thomas A. Edison, George W. Goethals, and Herbert Hoover.
The great Gold Medal is awarded for distinguished service in a special field of endeavor, either in the form of a specific act or a notable career. In accordance with the custom of inscribing on the medal some significant phrase descriptive of the activities of the recipient, the Civic Forum has decided to inscribe the word "Teacher" upon the medal.
