SQUASH PLAYERS START WELL AGAINST B. A. A.

FRESHMEN WILL PLAY LINCOLN'S INN TEAM B AT 3

The University Team got off to a very good start in its match with the B. A. A., when Captain Dixon and J. J. Glessner, both won their matches in straight games.

Dixon's overwhelming defeat of Powers, one of the high ranking men in the State was something of a surprise. Handicapped as he was by an unfamiliar court, it is doubtful if the B. A. A. representative could at any time have defeated the University Captain in the form he flashed today. Powers never knew what to expect as the dazzling succession of hard-hit smashes, drop volleys, and accurate corner shots won point after point for Dixon.

J. J. Glessner playing No. 4 defeated T. B. Plimpton in a match in which Glessner's unusual steadiness and ability to keep the ball in play were the deciding factors.

Today at 2 o'clock Carroll Harrington '24 will face Harold Plimpton of the B. A. A. and R. P. Rose '25 will face Kerrigan at 2.30. At 4 o'clock G. D. Debevoise '26 playing No. 2 will oppose Myles Baker '22, who played No. 5 on the 1921; and No. 3 on the 1922 University Teams.

Team B will play the Newton Center Team B at 2.30 today at the University Squash Courts. The latter just managed to defeat the Freshmen last week and the outlook is promising for the University players.

The line-up will be: HARVARD  NEWTON CENTER TEAM B 1. Du Bois  Wales 2. Upjohn  Fernald 3. Wright  Jackson 4. Carpenter  Cobb 5. Finley  Snow

The Freshman will be the Third University Team to play here today at 3 o'clock. They will meet the Lincoln's Inn Team B in the Freshman Athletic Building.

The teams will be as follows: HARVARD 1927  LINCOLN INN TEAM B 1. Rawlins  Mac Ilvaine 2. Lenhart  Kingsley 3. Merriman  Cleveland 4. Jackson  Gifford 5. Wister or De Rham  Cooper

Entries for the College Tournament, the draw of which will be posted Monday will close today at 6 P. M. Eight men will be seeded and the first round played off before the Christmas Vacation, after which the tournament will be finished as soon as possible in order to leave the courts free for the State Tournament which is scheduled to begin January 25.
