Fall track work will start this afternoon at 3 o'clock with a meeting of all track candidates, both University and Freshman in the team room of the Locker Building. Field event Coach E. L. Farrell, and Captain J. E. Merrill '24 will address the meeting. Active practice will begin immediately afterwards.
In addition to the 36 Freshman who are already doing cross country work under Coach Farrell, nearly 50 Freshman track candidates will probably report today, according to figures obtained from the Department of Physical Education in Wadsworth House. Although it is impossible to estimate the number of University candidates who will report today, it is probable that nearly all the returning members of last years University and Freshman squads will report, except those men who are participating in football. Chief among the football men who will not be able to do regular track work during the fall are Captain J. E. Merrill '24, L. L. Robb '25, W. R. Chase '26 and N. S. Howe '26 in the sprints and J. L. Combs '26 in the high hurdles. The field event men who are now on the University squad are C. A. C. Eastman '24, M. A. Cheek '26, H. T. Dunker '25 and Earl Evans '24 in the shot put, F. K. Kernan '24 and E. H. Bradford '26 in the javelin throw, and P. H. Theopold '25 in the weight throw.
The fall track season will last approximately five weeks. The season will terminate with an Interdormitory Track Meet about the end of the month, open only to Freshmen, and a Fall Handicap Track Meet soon after which will be open to the entire University.
